Should you find yourself having been asked to give a wedding speech, don't take this task for granted. You need to prepare and be aware of certain precautions in order to give a wedding speech that the newlywed couple can treasure and remember, and not be embarrassed about. Toast the newlyweds, have some wine with your meal, but do these things moderately. Don't get drunk! Drunk while delivering a wedding speech; not a good idea. The laughter you hear will be directed at you. Don't fool yourself into the typical drunk thinking that believes you're funny and the crowd is laughing with you. Not only that, but speech making drunks have a habit of saying things that might not be appropriate for the occasion.

If preparing and giving a wedding speech is something you really are uncomfortable doing, consider something novel and different instead. A sure winner for this situation, and something that the bride and groom will enjoy right along with their guests, is an audio visual presentation. Collect photos that tell a story with pictures of the bride and groom at various stages of their lives. Baby time, childhood, high school, college, the options are endless and always enjoyable. Add a little music along with a few choice phrases of your own and you now have a non-traditional wedding speech that everyone can enjoy.
